Graphite machining is used to create the tubes using processes such as extrusion, compression molding, or isostatic pressing. Each technique produces unique grades of graphite, useful for different purposes. Extruded or pressed graphite is often used in manufacturing operations. Graphite rods and plates that are isostatically crushed have substantially finer graphite particles and smoother surfaces. It’s easy to specify custom different lengths, diameters, wall thicknesses, and flexibility for tubes. In contrast to metals, graphite gets stronger as the temperature rises and is less prone to degrade with time or normal wear and tear.

The graphite rods, in similar manufacturing processes to graphite tubes or tubing, can be fabricated according to custom specifications. They are cut to required sizes, shapes, diameters and length. Typically finer grain graphite is used to fabricate graphite rods, however high density and coarse grain stock is available for applications where a smooth surface or finish is not necessarily required. Rod extrusion, compression molding or isostatic pressing are the methods most commonly used in the fabrication of graphite rods, and each is more suitable to specific applications.

Isostatic graphite is an ultra-fine grain graphite used for applications where the mechanical properties of other fine grain graphites are inadequate. The term "isostatic graphite" stands for isostatically molded graphite. This means that the raw material mixture is compressed into rectangular or round blocks in a so called Cold-Isostatic-Press (CIP).

It is formed using select acid treated natural graphite, which is then compressed after undergoing high temperature expansion. Only natural graphite is used as a raw material, which yields highly flexible carbon with excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance. Other features include a high compressibility recovery rate, excellent airtightness, and a high thermal conductivity
